Compress images without uploading them
This image compressor makes JPG, PNG and WEBP files lighter, many at once, right in your browser. Choose a quality, or a size each image must stay under (100 KB, 200 KB, 1 MB...), compare the original and the compressed image with a zoom, then download them one by one or in a zip. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no limit on the number of images or per month.
How to compress an image
- Drop one or several images in the box, click to choose them, or paste one with Ctrl+V.
- Keep the balanced quality, or choose a target size like 100 KB.
- Compare before and after, then download the images or the zip.
What to use it for
- Online forms: photos and scans under 100 KB or 200 KB for applications and official websites.
- Websites: lighter pages that load faster and rank better, with WEBP and a max size of 1920 px.
- Email: send many photos without hitting the attachment limit.
- Online shops and blogs: product photos and articles that stay sharp and light.
- Phone storage: shrink big photos you want to keep or share.
Quality or target size?
- Quality: the same quality for every image, so each one gets the size it needs. Best for websites and albums.
- Target size: every image under the size you set, at the best quality possible. Best when a site or an app limits the file size.
Frequently asked questions
How do I reduce the size of an image?
Drop your images in the box. They are compressed right away at a balanced quality; move the quality slider to make them lighter or sharper, compare before and after, then download them one by one or all together in a zip.
How do I compress an image to 100 KB?
Choose Target size and click 100 KB (or type any size). The tool finds the best quality that fits under it, and makes the image smaller only if the quality alone is not enough. Useful for online forms, applications and email attachments that limit the file size.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The compression runs in your browser: your images never leave your device, which also makes it fast and lets you compress as many images as you want, with no monthly limit.
Does compressing lower the quality?
JPG and WEBP remove details the eye barely sees: at around 75% quality, the difference is very hard to notice on photos, for a file often 3 to 10 times lighter. PNG keeps every pixel sharp and reduces the number of colors instead. Zoom on the before and after to check.
Which format is the lightest?
WEBP is usually 25 to 35% lighter than JPG at the same quality, and is read by all recent browsers. Keep JPG for photos you send by email or print, and PNG for logos, screenshots and images with transparency.
Why is one of my images not smaller?
It was already well compressed. Instead of giving you a heavier file, the tool keeps your original and says so. Lower the quality, choose WEBP or a smaller max size to go further.
