How to convert an image

  1. Choose the output format in the Convert to menu.
  2. Drop your images in the box, click to choose them, or paste one with Ctrl+V. They are converted right away.
  3. Click the download button of each image, or Download all (.zip).

Output formats

  • PNG: lossless, with transparency. Best for logos, screenshots and graphics.
  • JPG: the most common format for photos, with an adjustable quality and a small file.
  • WEBP: the modern format of the web, lighter than PNG and JPG, with transparency.
  • ICO: icons for websites (favicons) and Windows, with several sizes in one file.
  • GIF: 256 colors, opens everywhere, even in very old software.
  • BMP: uncompressed, for programs that require it. Files are large.

Frequently asked questions

Which image formats can I convert?

You can convert to PNG, JPG, WEBP, ICO, GIF and BMP. As input, the tool reads every format your browser can open: PNG, JPG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, ICO, SVG and AVIF in most browsers. HEIC photos from iPhones can only be read in Safari for now.

Can I convert several images at once?

Yes. Drop up to 50 images, they are converted one after the other. Download each one separately, or all of them in a single zip file.

What happens to transparency?

PNG, WEBP, ICO and GIF keep transparent areas (GIF only keeps full transparency, not semi transparent edges). JPG and BMP have no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background color you choose, white by default.

Which format should I choose?

PNG for logos, screenshots and images with transparency. JPG for photos, with a smaller file. WEBP for websites: lighter than both, with transparency. ICO for favicons and Windows icons. GIF for simple drawings that must open everywhere. BMP only when a program requires it.

Does converting reduce image quality?

PNG, ICO and BMP are lossless: no detail is lost. JPG and WEBP compress the image: at 90% quality the difference is invisible for most photos, and you can raise it up to 100%. GIF is limited to 256 colors, which is fine for logos but can make photos grainy.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Every image is converted directly in your browser and never leaves your device. Metadata such as camera details and location is removed from the converted files.
