What is a Morse code translator?
A Morse code translator converts text into Morse code and Morse code back into text. Morse code represents each letter and number with a sequence of short signals (dots) and long signals (dashes). It was created in the 1830s for the telegraph and is still used today by radio amateurs, pilots and sailors.

How do I translate Morse code to text?

How are letters and words separated in Morse code?
Letters are separated by a space and words by a slash, like "... --- ... / .... . .-.. .--.". This tool also understands letters separated by slashes or pipes (.../---/...) and words separated by several spaces.
Can I use underscores or other dash characters?
Yes. Underscores (_), long dashes (—, –) and bullet dots (•, ·) are all recognized, so you can paste Morse code from any source without cleaning it first.
What does ... --- ... mean?
It means SOS, the international distress signal. It is sent as one continuous sequence: three dots, three dashes, three dots.
What happens to accents and unsupported characters?
Accented letters are converted to their base letter (é becomes E). Characters that have no Morse equivalent, like emojis, are skipped. When decoding, an unknown sequence is shown as #.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. The translation happens directly in your browser. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere.
